Remembering Sunlight 1989
Consider a future where the natural world is toxic and uninhabitable, driving us to seek refuge underground. After years of deprivation, how would we recall the everyday beauty of dappled sunlight or snow on tree limbs? Would memories be enough, or would we long for something more?
Maybe people would join together, building temples of remembrance from salvaged materials—sacred spaces hidden in the underground caverns. Based on this idea I constructed and photographed four tabletop sets.
